Fire Cadets

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service currently run the National Fire Cadets Programme in a number of fire stations across Merseyside for 13-17 year olds.

The aim of the Fire Cadets is to enable young people to gain skills and knowledge and have positive experiences in a fun, safe and secure environment, while developing life skills and inspiring positive life choices about their futures.

Activities include:

  • Practical Firefighting Drills
  • Fire Safety Awareness
  • Promoting Community Engagement
  • Fundraising
  • First Aid Awareness
  • Road Safety Awareness
  • Water Safety Awareness
  • Team-Building Activities

Cadets also work towards gaining certification and accreditation.

There are currently five Fire Cadet units in Merseyside:

  • Wirral – Wallasey Fire Station (Thursdays 6-8pm)
  • St Helens – St Helens Fire Station (Tuesdays 6-8pm)
  • Sefton – Bootle & Netherton Fire Station (Wednesdays 6-8pm)
  • Liverpool – Croxteth Fire Station (Tuesdays 6.15–8.45pm)
  • Sefton - Southport Fire Station (Wednesdays 6.15-8.15pm)
